Vanderbilt Projected Fourth Overall Seed as Commodores Hit Their Stride
Projection Season
It is officially projection time in the NCAA women’s basketball world, and I can’t say that I disagree with the first round of these. Deep into the season, the No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores stand at 24-2, with a 10-2 record in the SEC. Currently, the Dores are projected as a fourth overall seed, which means they are right on track for a No. 1 seed.
The Commodores, as you know, ran out to a 20-0 record before dropping two in a row on the road at South Carolina and at Ole Miss (played in Birmingham). Since then, the Commodores have reset and taken four in a row with three coming against teams ranked in the top 16. This past week’s events of blowing out No. 10 Oklahoma and No. 4 Texas at home seems as if they are trending towards the team they want to be at the right time.

The Dores have four regular season games remaining, and then the SEC Tournament. There is still a lot that can happen between now and Selection Sunday, and Coach Shea Ralph and the team know that, but the goal is what it is. Why else would you play the game if it weren’t?
“We came here to win championships, one day at a time, one game at a time. Everything is tracking in the right direction and we’re gonna keep staying focused on the game ahead. That’s always been the goal,” said Shea Ralph after the 102-86 win over No. 10 Oklahoma.
Vanderbilt will get back to work tomorrow in Athens, Georgia as they face Dani Carnegie and the Bulldogs at 11:00 AM CT. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
