Taylor Workman Ready To Be A Tiger!
For Taylor Workman, softball has always been more than just a game. It’s been a place where she’s built friendships, challenged herself, and discovered the type of player and person she wants to be. Now, the San Mateo, California, native is preparing to take her game across the country to one of college softball’s rising programs: Clemson.
Workman, a 2027 middle infielder who plays travel ball with Warrior Academy and for Aragon High School, announced her commitment to Clemson earlier this fall. For her, the decision didn’t take long once she stepped onto campus.
“When I visited Clemson, I knew quickly that it was where I wanted to be,” Workman said. “I was blown away by all of the athletic facilities and resources, and beyond that just the overall feeling of campus. Most importantly, I loved the people that made up Clemson softball. The entire coaching staff was great, and I had such good interactions with all of the players. It’s an environment that I’m so excited to get to be a part of in a few years.”
Her official visit sealed the deal. She got the full Clemson experience, from touring the campus to enjoying time with future teammates.
“I had such a fun official to Clemson, and really every aspect of it convinced me further that it was the right choice for me,” she said. “Personally, my favorite part was when we toured both the main campus and the sports facilities on golf carts because it was a chance to take in my surroundings and picture what it would be like if I was a student there. Beyond the tour though, the football experience was so memorable, and I also had a great time playing in a nighttime pickleball tournament with the other recruits and current players.”
That balance of community and competition was exactly what Taylor Workman wanted in a program. But above all, she knew her choice would come down to the people leading it.
“Going into my recruiting process, coaching was the most important factor for me in choosing a school, and I truly think that at Clemson I’ve found the best possible staff to help me reach all of my goals,” she explained. “I’ve loved getting to know Coach Rittman along with Coach Crash, Coach Wigs, and Coach KJ, and everything that I’ve heard them say aligns with what I believe in and want as a player. Also, they all seem so passionate and completely bought in to turning their program into one that consistently competes for a College World Series.”
That belief in growth and consistency comes from Workman’s own journey as a player. She credits much of her mindset and work ethic to role models she watched closely growing up.
“My biggest role model in softball has definitely been Megan Grant,” she said. “She played for the same club as I do, and when I was younger I would watch and take in everything that she did. Her work ethic inspired mine, and I learned so much from getting to be around her every day. Now, it’s so much fun for me to get to watch her on a bigger stage doing amazing things at UCLA.”
Clemson has recruited more California talent in recent years, something that’s helped shape the Tigers’ roster with players from across the West Coast. While that wasn’t the deciding factor for Taylor Workman, she’s excited to share the field with other players from her region.
“I don’t think that having players from California already at Clemson really influenced my choice to commit, but at the same time it’s exciting that I’ll get to play with some people from my area,” she said. “Also, having another girl from NorCal in my recruiting class is super cool because we’ll be in a lot of the same local tournaments together.”
Workman will get to play alongside another 2027 Clemson commit in Natalie Brozaitis from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, California.
For now, Taylor Workman still has plenty of games left at Aragon and with Warrior Academy before she officially heads East. But she’s already thinking ahead to her time in orange and purple, and she wants Tiger fans to know she’s aiming big.
“I would tell Tiger fans to get ready to watch the World Series because WE ARE GOING!” she said enthusiastically. “I’m so eager and ready to do big things with the great program at Clemson.”
With her competitive drive, strong foundation, and belief in Clemson’s vision, it’s clear that Taylor Workman isn’t just looking to be part of the program, she’s ready to help elevate the Clemson program to new heights.
