Mikayla Blakes and Aubrey Galvan Earn SEC Honors

It’s been another week of great things around the Vanderbilt Commodores Women’s Basketball team after another solid week that brought a Top 10 win over No. 7 Michigan. A couple of Dores were recipients of SEC honors today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

For the second time this basketball season, Mikayla Blakes and Aubrey Galvan brought in honors from the SEC in the same week. Mikayla Blakes was named SEC Co-Player of the Week. Blakes averaged 26 PPG with 5.5 AST and 3.5 RPG. Her best game of the week came from a season-high 38 points at Mississippi State on Thursday, where she also went 11 of 11 from the charity stripe.

Blakes shared the SEC Player of the Week with Georgia’s Dani Carnegie. Carnegie had a monster game in the Lady Bulldogs’ win over then-No. 16 Ole Miss on Sunday. She dropped a career-high 32 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and one steal in that 82-59 upset win.

The talented freshman with a vendetta, Aubrey Galvan, earned SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 14 PPG with 4 APG over the last two games. Aubrey dropped her career-high 20 points in the win over No. 7 Michigan on Monday, with three assists and two steals.

Galvan is all over the court and as confident as they come. With 3:03 left in the game, she drained a three that came from a second chance offensive rebound and assist from Mikayla Blakes.

That gave Vanderbilt a seven-point lead as Michigan had closed the gap rapidly in the second half of that battle. The Dores came through with a big March Madness style win over a Quad 1 opponent and continues to show that Vanderbilt is here and is for real.

No. 4 Vanderbilt returns to action at home on Thursday night against the Auburn Tigers at Memorial Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:30 PM ET/6:30 PM CT. You can stream the game on SEC Network+.
