Kyndal Engle Brings Positivity, Smarts, and Heart to the Diamond
A Player from the NE Corner of Tennessee
Unicoi County, a small place tucked into the northeastern corner of Tennessee where I-26 runs through just before North Carolina, is where the latest player spotlight calls home.
Kyndal Engle is a class of 2026 shortstop and utility player for Unicoi County High School. Engle is currently uncommitted, but in reading her submission to me, I believe that she will for sure make some college program happy to call her theirs very soon.
Academics First, Always
The word positivity automatically came to mind when talking with Kyndal. One of the things I like to ask players first and foremost is how are their academics and life as a student athlete at their respective schools.
“Life as a student athlete at Unicoi is very rewarding. While having great coaches who constantly push me to be my best, the faculty and staff makes it possible for me to have a great education while also becoming a better athlete.”, said Kyndal Engle.
With a 3.9 GPA, that speaks for itself with Kyndal Engle. Academics are the most important responsibility, and people often miss that point these days.
One Sport, One Focus
What other sports has Engle played? Kyndal stated that she played volleyball until her junior year, but like most that are looking to excel in one sport for the future, she decided that softball would be best for her.
In the 2025 season, Engle slashed .367/.451/.561 with 3 home runs, 31 runs scored, and 28 RBIs according to MaxPreps. Defense was also solid with a .952 fielding percentage.
Lessons from the Game
So, what has the game of softball done for her? While it is a fun sport to play, and we often are caught up in just winning and competition, it is even more so important to learn some lessons as well.
“Softball has placed so many valuable lessons into my life throughout my time playing it. It has taught me that you have to keep looking forward no matter what because at the end of the day, hard work beats failure.”
Travel Ball’s Impact
Travel ball is a major part of players’ lives and it has pretty much become a year-round thing in some way or another when school ball isn’t in session.
“Travel ball has made a huge impact on my life. I definitely wouldn’t be the player I am without travel ball, along with the people who have put so much of their personal time and effort into me.”
Gratitude and Perspective
As I mentioned at the beginning, her positive outlook stood out from the jump. That is very important as people and players often face tough situations and challenges. That is just life in general.
What does Kyndal Engle fall back on during those times? Her faith and gratefulness for the opportunities.
“When things get tough, I remember to be thankful that God has given me the ability to do something I love. Not everyone has the opportunities that some of us have been given, and I think that it is so important to reflect on that. I always remind myself that tomorrow isn’t promised, so it’s worth it to give it your all while you still have time.”
Not taking anything for granted. Sounds like the kind of player I would want on my team. Those types of players will often run through a brick wall for you and give 110 percent every day. It can all be gone tomorrow, so treat it like today is your last.
What Coaches Should Know
As I mentioned earlier, Kyndal Engle is currently an uncommitted class of 2026 shortstop and utility player. So, what should coaches know about her? What makes Kyndal Engle special?
“I am not currently committed to any college or university. I am a super hardworking individual, and I’ll chase after something until I achieve it. For me, it’s about increasing my ability to do my best so that I can help out not only me, but the people around me.”
A Bright Future Ahead
