Dani Carnegie and the Bulldogs Win Big

Any given day in the SEC, right?! One of today’s biggest upsets came from the Georgia Bulldogs who took down No. 16 Ole Miss by a score of 82-59 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia. The Bulldogs needed this one big time, as they came into the day 1-3 in the SEC.

This game was led by sophomore Dani Carnegie of the Bulldogs. Carnegie posted a career-high 32 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Carnegie was on, hitting 11 of 17 from the floor, 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Ole Miss had no answer, and when a player is in the groove there really is no answer. She was the first Lady Bulldog to score 30 points or more in a game since Jenna Staiti in 2021.

Carnegie was determined to bounce back from her last game out against South Carolina, where she went 2 for 11 for five points in the loss.

“It’s another game for me and I was excited for this game because I did have a bad game last game. I had to show up for my teammates, so it was more about helping my team win,” said Carnegie.

Sophomore guard Trinity Turner was also big today. Turner recorded 13 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block. She shot 55.6 percent from the floor in 34 minutes.

As a team, Georgia got great bench production, especially in the last quarter. The Lady Bulldogs finished with 22 bench points on the day with 16 of those coming in the fourth.

“I love to have the bench. Everybody got an opportunity to play and we needed it. Last game we played, we didn’t share the ball very well, so we shared the ball a lot more. And obviously, everybody got an opportunity to score,” stated Georgia Head Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson.

Ole Miss also couldn’t buy a bucket for the most part today. The Rebels were held to 30 percent from the floor, shooting 21 of 70 and 5 of 19 from three.

As I said in the beginning, it is any given day in the SEC, and honestly it is any given day no matter the conference. As the days go by, we are seeing more and more upsets pop up across the country.

The rest of this season will be fun and intriguing to keep up with for sure. Once again, shoutout to Dani Carnegie for an amazing bounce back game at home against a ranked conference opponent. It was her day.
