AP Top 25 Movement

After an exciting week of Women’s College Basketball, there has been some movement in the AP Top 25 as expected. With several upsets over the last several days, one thing is for certain. Nobody is safe and parity is real. That is something LSU head coach Kim Mulkey attributed to the NIL era, “Money money money money.”

Whatever your thoughts may be, this is an exciting time and it only makes the game an even better product.

The top five of the poll has a newcomer in Oklahoma, for the first time since 2009. The Sooners are strong, and it will be interesting to see how things play out for them in the SEC this season. UConn, Texas, South Carolina, and UCLA sit above Oklahoma to round out the top five.

The biggest mover in this week’s poll is Michigan State. The Spartans jumped nine spots from last week’s AP Poll after a solid week that included wins over Indiana and Illinois. Kennedy Blair continues to bring the fire for Michigan State. I love the way she attacks the paint and has the vision to make quick decisions. Yesterday against Illinois, she posted 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Vanderbilt is 15-0, and up to No. 6 after their upset win over then fifth ranked LSU. Mikayla Blakes averaged 33.5 points per game over the last two, and with some consistent help from teammates, this Commodores team could be a special story this season.

Stay tuned to women’s basketball as there will be more exciting games on the way this week.
