Coach Steve Singleton brought in three additions to his new Cal softball coaching staff, Danielle Gibson Whorton, Chelsea Rex-Singleton, and Camille Corona.

Gibson Whorton is a former Arkansas Razorback who made history as the program’s first two-time NFCA All-American. Most recently, she served on the staff under Head Coach Courtney Daifel as an assistant coach.

Alongside her coaching career, Gibson Whorton plays professionally in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. During the inaugural regular season, she began as a member of the Blaze before being traded to the Bandits in exchange for Devyn Netz. She closed out the 2025 season with a .351 batting average, a .425 on-base percentage, and a .527 slugging percentage, while adding three home runs, 21 RBIs, nine runs scored, and 39 total bases.

Chelsea Rex-Singleton is a former Saint Francis University Red Flash two-way player who hit .227 with 40 RBIs and seven home runs. As a starting pitcher, she posted a career ERA of 4.13. Her coaching career began in 2016 as a graduate assistant at the University of Redlands, followed by an assistant role in 2019. In July 2023, she was named an assistant at Southwestern University.

Rex-Singleton also served as head coach for the Barrelers in the Lone Star State Collegiate League, part of the American Collegiate League owned by Ryan Moore.

Camille Corona is a former Texas Longhorn and UT-Arlington Maverick, where she played her fifth and final season of college softball. At UT-Arlington, she hit .417 with 12 RBIs, 22 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and a .985 fielding percentage across 45 games.

This summer, Corona was the Game Day Operations Manager for the Lone Star State Collegiate League, where she led a crew of five in executing a 36-game-per-week schedule that served more than 80 student-athletes.

I'm Charles Mays, the founder of Mays Sports Media, an independent sports outlet I built from the ground up. I'm a Ridgely, Tennessee native now based in Knoxville, and I got my start covering Florida State athletics for SB Nation's Tomahawk Nation before stepping out on my own. My coverage now centers on Vanderbilt Athletics and the sport of softball at the collegiate and pro levels, with a broader take on national sports stories worth telling. I also launched the Fastpitch Wire Softball brand in 2025, covering softball at all levels. As an independent writer, I'm not backed by a major network or corporate media group. I've earned my access, my sources, my credibility and trust through ethical and serious work.
