Addison Lund to ECU!

Addison Lund, a transfer out of Charlotte, has committed to play softball for the East Carolina University Pirates. The rising sophomore appeared in 39 games and started 34 as a freshman during the 2025 season, mostly as a catcher.

Her freshman campaign was unfortunately cut short due to a medical issue, and following the season, she made the decision to seek a new opportunity.

This summer, Lund has been competing in the Scenic City Collegiate League in Chattanooga, where she’s used the time to sharpen her craft. She shared with me that she’s become more confident in the batter’s box and has put in extra reps behind the plate.

When I spoke with Addison a few days ago, I asked what she prioritized in making her next move. Her answer was thoughtful and clear. In no particular order, she said coaching philosophy, team competitiveness, facilities, and quality of education were all crucial factors.

East Carolina University seems to have checked all those boxes.

Now, the Pirates will add a versatile and motivated young player to their roster as Lund gets a fresh start in Greenville, North Carolina.

I also launched the Fastpitch Wire Softball brand in 2025, covering softball at all levels. As an independent writer, I'm not backed by a major network or corporate media group.
